Gmail 'recent mode' setup to access mail from multiple POP client
Setting up Gmail recent mode is important to access mail on multiple clients through POP. In Gmail ‘Recent mode’ makes sure the availability of all messages to each client instead of the first one.

However, the settings need to be reflected on the email client like Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, etc. In the POP client settings it's required to replace 'username@gmail.com' with 'recent:username@gmail.com' (without quote).
For example, observe the POP Clint Outlook settings as below.
Once it has been enabled the recent mode, now it’s required to configure your POP client to leave messages on the server according to the instructions below:
1. Outlook: On the Advanced tab, check the box next to 'Leave a copy of message on the server.'
2. Apple Mail: On the Advanced tab, remove the check next to 'Remove copy from server after retrieving a message.'
3. Thunderbird: On the Server Settings tab, check the box next to 'Leave message on server.'
